Government benefits for the elderly Filipinos include provisions of health, finance, and other social benefits which were boded and will be payable to aged individuals in June 2025. It will include monthly pensions and milestone cash gifts, as well as discounts for services availed against or out of pocket, and health coverage.
Monthly Social Pension Will Increase
An indigent senior citizen will have a monthly allowance of ₱1,000 under RA 11916, while previously it was at ₱500. This pension support is intended for those aged 60 years and older who are physically weak, sickly, or have no other source of income or government pension. The program is undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), with or without stipulating necessary causes of the benefits til the end of the course for the eligible beneficiaries.
Cash Gifts of Milestones for “Super Seniors”
Under the provisions of the Expanded Centenarians Act (RA 11982), persons aged 80, 85, 90, and above who will turn 95 will be entitled to a cash gift of ₱10,000, beginning January 2025. One who achieves the milestone of a century will receive a ₱100,000 cash gift. This benefit is given by the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), and to be eligible, the seniors must pre-register via their local Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) or, they can opt to register through the NCSC website.
Immunizations and medical care are free. Beneficiary indigent elderlies are provided with free inoculations for influenza and pneumococcus to make them immune from the commonly prevalent infectious diseases. All of them also receive free medical and dental care in government facilities. Thus, they do not have to spend a single centavo on medical expenses.
